The Mighty Quinn

1st Week

Life starts off rough as a little guy in a big world.

Now he has to work for his food. It is not just given.
Naturally that is one of the biggest challenges for the little guy.

Many frustrating nights of scream:. us trying to figure out how to help and him trying to understand what we are teaching him.

August 29th, 2008 - 1 Week

The McBee grandparents were in town for the weekend. They helped cook, clean and did Denver. Jill got a year pass to the Botanical gardens. She intends to bring Quinn there to see all the colors and plants.

I gave them a tour of Red Rocks, Denver and helped them to get a ski pass for Winter Park at a discount.

There was good times, but they had to come accustomed to the 2-4 hour loop of breast feeding. Quinn went on his first walk in the Baby Bjorn.

September 20th, 2008 - 3 Weeks

Quinn is one month old this Monday. They are both getting better at breast feeding.

We are learning how to sleep in 2 - 4 hours increments.

Quinn is starting to show his personality. He loves tummy time and listening to Bob Marley. You can't be lazy with the little man. He gets impatient when you sit still for too long. He will start crying until you get up and start walking.

September 25th, 2008 - 4 Weeks

This is Quinn's one month birthday.

He went to the doctor and got measured up.

October 4th, 2008 - 6 Weeks

This last week Daddy went and gave his cold to Quinn.Unfortunately newborns can't fight off a cold very well. Even if they are breastfeeding.

His fever got to 100.4. Not very hot when it comes to being sick for a grown up. But being that he is only a little over a month old, the doctor said we had to go to the ER.

He and Momma spent the night at Children's Hospital for three nights. He spent a majority of his time crying so he could go on long walks through the halls. He then flirted with all the nurses. We kept telling him that this was the most expensive date he will ever go on.

He is well now and at home.

Back at home

October 26th, 2008 - 8 Weeks

The big adventure back to Oregon went well. Quinn did great on the airplane there and back. Annalee just kept the boob attached to his lips.

Shawn's wedding was good for the two of us but Quinn was a little over stimulated. Just too many people wanting to see him, hold him, and cure him of his crying. We had to jet out a little early since Quinn doesn't have his dancing legs quite yet.

The rest of the week was a scheduled sequence of visits with as many people as could be fit in comfortably to a 24 hour day. We hope everybody got to meet Quinn's face at some point in the trip. If you didn't, or would like to have more face time, we have an open door policy in Colorado. You are always welcome!

October 29th, 2008 - 9 Weeks

Quinn went to his two month doctor's appointment today. He got 5 shots and was measured up. It looks like he is tall and skinny with not too big of a head.

November 25th, 2008 - 3 Months

Grandma is here now helping out as Annalee is back to work. It has helped out a bunch having her here. She knows nursery rhymes and enjoys playing with the little man. Jill has been swimming, going to church, and taking classes at the Denver Botanical Gardens.

Quinn learned to roll over last week. He was a little scared when he fell to his back. He is getting better and can do it both directions.

December 25th, 2008 - 4 months

Quinn has become more active. He is holding himself up for a couplde seconds while sitting. He can grab things he sees. And he can tell you a story. He just tells you about everything. Who knows what he is saying, but it is good. He helped to create his first batch of beer. So we created his first beer label.

January 25th, 2009 - 5 months

Little Q can sit up really strong now. He just sits there and finds things to stick into his mouth.

The week of Jan 5th his discovered his feet. He now likes to suck on a good toe. The the following week he discovered this ball of skin between his legs. He doesn't know what to think of it yet. He just grabs it.

He started daycare this month. It is a great place CCI Montessori. Hopefully we will make some friends there.

He has started to eat vegetables. Sweet potatoe was the first to start with. We will try one for four to five meals then try another. So far sweet potatoe, peas, and green beans. He likes them all, but his stomach doesn't like sweet potatoes that much.

February 25th, 2009 - 6 months

I have been eating vegetables, fruit, and a formula. I like the soy formula a lot better than the cow milk type.

I really want to walk. I kinda understand that my feet get me places and keep me from falling on my face.

I swung on a swing for the first time. That is pretty fun. Slides aren't all that fun though. I like to feel the g-forces.

I started taking my baths in the big boy bath. I like to splash a lot!

School is going well. I like the ladies that take care of me and the friends I get to play with.

March 25th, 2009 - 7 months

I started eating meat. My momma doesn't think they taste that good, but they feed it to me anyway. Pureed meat...... what a concept.

I am getting strong. I can pull myself up to a stand by holding on to my Daddy or even my toys. I can hold the crawling position and bounce back and forth. But I am not ready to move my knees.

My Grandpa came to visit and we had a good time together. We walked, laughed, and played with blocks.

April 25th, 2009 - 8 months

I started crawling this month and now rule the house. No holding me back now.

Swimming lessons are ok but I am not sure about going underwater quite yet.

I like playing in the front yard and picking up dead grass. We got a seat for me to sit on mom's bike with. Bike rides are ok, butI like swinging more.

Quinn's first crawl

I gave my first Hi-5 on cinco de mayo!! Cutest thing ever ;)

My first tooth came through the week of May 3rd.

May 25th, 2009 - 9 months

You thought I was a crawling monster last month...... watch me now. I can sprint crawl if I want something bad enough.

Mom is now out of work and can hang out all day long. I have been watching them put up the new fence. That is gonna take a long time for them.

I got my first bike that my Papa made for me the "Q-MOBILE". It has custom graphics and everything. I like it but haven't figured out how to turn it where I want to go yet.

Watch out for me on the move!

The Q is known!!!

August 25th, 2009 - 1 Year

Here we are a year after Quinn's birth and we can't believe it.

He eats everything under the sun. Whatever we are eating he will join us with. We weaned him off of the bottle this last week. He wasn't too happy but has been distracted to not remember. He has four teeth on the top and two on the bottom.

He can walk around better everyday. On a good run he can make it across the entire roon without falling. He rides his bike but doesn't understand turning. We cruise on the skateboard together on the street.

We started a new daycare Kids Tech. It is a daycare in Pickens Tech College that serves students and teachers. They have a developmentally based instructional program where students that are studying early childhood education work with the kids for one of their labs.

He got cake for his birthday. You should have seen him with his first sugar high. He was loving it. Licking his lips and running around the house.
